American Classic wheels are now available with CycleOps PowerTap SL hubs. For customers who already know American Classic, the PowerTap hub brings a new dimension to the high end line.

“People want to race the PowerTap with light rims. There was a steady demand for American Classic wheels built with the PowerTap. We are happy to make this a reality for our customers by offering PowerTap wheels as part of our product line,” notes Simon Kessler of American Classic who established the program. Kessler, former pro rider, champion of South Africa and elite cycling coach, is committed to racing with power and brought the idea to the forefront at American Classic. “This is a custom option available on rear wheels with either 24 or 32 spoke hole drilling. Front wheels are available as well so that riders can have a matching wheelset,” adds Kessler.

“American Classic is a perfect match for PowerTap since they offer the same quality and performance that we build into our own products. We are excited to have another world renowned wheel for PowerTap customers,” says Jesse Bartholomew, product manager for Saris.

For example, a pair of American Classic sprint 350 road wheels built with the PowerTap SL starts at only 1490 grams. Our new magnesium tubular launch after Interbike will start at 1310 grams for the pair with the PowerTap SL. Also available in non-disc mountain bike 350 and other American Classic wheels. Currently, the program is only available in the United States.
